BROWNIE aims to create unique photography publications by working with photographers from various fields. Through a collaborative and curatorial effort, the BROWNIE team will help to present fresh photography work in a new light using a combination of text, imagery and design.
PEOPLE OF SHANGHAI is the first photography publication created by BROWNIE, featuring Roberto Zampino, the initiator of the independent art project PEOPLE OF LONDON. Doing a 30-day residency in Shanghai, Roberto collaborated with the BROWNIE team on the design, editorial and production of the book.
PEOPLE OF SHANGHAI presents not only the individual faces of the crowd in Shanghai – home to 24 million residents and 24 million stories—but also the connections and networks scattered throughout the city. Through the perspective of a western photographer, we rediscover the human touch behind Shanghai that might otherwise be often overlooked. PEOPLE OF SHANGHAI is an exploration and observation of urban life in this mobile era through the use of portraits, urban landscapes and insightful stories.

BROWNIE 摄影出版物计划,是与来自各个平台的摄影师合作, 在扶持新鲜摄影 创作的同时, 结合BROWNIE 内容和创意团队, 不定期推出影像、文本与设计相融合的创新摄影出版物, 以此探索摄影的无限可能。
BROWNIE 摄影出版物计划首发第一本书《人在上海》, 找到了独立艺术项目 PEOPLE OF LONDON 的发起人罗伯特 • 赞皮诺, 在上海进行了为期 30 天的驻地创作, 并由 BROWNIE 团队进行全程编辑与制作。
围绕 BROWNIE 第一季概念“人群关系”, 书中收录了赞皮诺在上海期间完成的 一系列人物肖像、城市景观和静物照片。从老上海人生长于斯的弄堂到都市雅痞们聚集的昔日法租界, 再到国际化的陆家嘴金融贸易区, 赞皮诺在一个月内踏遍 上海的街头巷尾, 用相机记录下数百张面孔, 以他的观看方式为我们带来了他眼中的上海, 以及生活在这座城市中的人。《人在上海》所展现的不仅仅是人群里的个体样貌, 更是构建起许多散落在这座城市里的关系与脉络。
与此同时, 摄影师与编辑团队的交替叙述, 穿插在主观性强烈的书籍设计中, 为 项目本身提供了多样的注解。与其说《人在上海》是一本关于上海以及城中人的摄影书, 不如将它看成是关于使用摄影、文字和设计探索城市的实践, 借此来探 索与流动化时代相吻合的城市生活。
